Trellis

Trellis was my final project for my studio class the fall of 2017. This was a group project that I worked on with Matt Rogers and Megan Bonner. Trellis is a small business that we developed with the purpose of providing members with the educational skills and supplies needed to curate a personalized home garden, while also giving them the opportunity to network communities of similar interests.

Our vision was to help our members become more confident in their gardening abilities while helping attain curated gardens of their chosen scales and purposes.

For the project, Megan focused on Branding, Matt worked on Service Design, and I worked on Interaction Design for the "company." Megan and Matt also worked on our final video and I worked on our final booklet that documented our touch points and process.

Overview

Members join local Trellis groups to connect with others in their area. Events and meetings are organized by the group leaders and are shared through the Trellis Application. Large or innovative initiatives can be recognized in the Trellis publication, which is sent to members across the country, or on the Trellis Instagram page. Members can access the same information on our website (completed by Matt) on the Amazon Echo products.

Publication

The publication would automatically be sent out to members every month after they had used the service for over 6 months, or upon request. The purpose of the publication is to highlight the projects worked on by chapters or individuals around the country to inspire others and to remind users that they are part of something bigger than themselves.

Mobile Application

Part of my contribution to Trellis is the phone application. This app acts as a social media platform for users to post pictures of their gardens or ask others for advice. From the application, users can view their own profiles, the posts of other users and view upcoming events scheduled by their Trellis chapter.

Instagram Presence

Trellis's Instagram would be updated regularly, it would be a way for members to stay up to date, highlight specific members, and for potential users to learn more about Trellis. Check out the page @trellisofficial.

Amazon Alexa Skill

The Trellis Amazon Alexa Skill can be accessed through Amazon's Echo products.  Users can ask Alexa about the plants they have received in their monthly boxes, when upcoming Trellis events are, and can schedule reminders to care for their plants.

Final Process Book

Our last deliverable was a process book that held all of our work, including personas and statements of what our project was. The booklet ended up being 44 pages and featured our work and steps of development.
